Welcome to the J/24 2009 Western Regional Championship

Sponsored by J/24 Western Regionals San Francisco Bay The 2009 J/24 Western Regional Championship will be held on the waters of San Francisco Bay the weekend of September 19th – 20th, 2009. There is a practice race planned for the evening of Friday, September 18th. The Bay Area is considered the most popular sailing venue on the West Coast. Its proximity to San Francisco, generally strong winds and scenic surroundings make the bay an ideal venue for the events of the 2009 J/24 Western Regional Championship. The historic Berkeley Yacht Club, located in the Berkeley Marina, will host the regatta. With spectacular views of the San Francisco skyline, reserved club mooring facilities, and first class restaurants close by, the club is one of the leading yacht Clubs on the West Coast.

The Western Regional Championship is designed as the "feeder" event for the 2009 J/24 U.S. National Championship. Seven (7) relatively short course races are planned and the number of races may be modified by the official Sailing Instructions. The racing for both events will take place on the “Berkeley Circle” and the same PRO will run both events. The Nationals will be held the weekend following, on September 25th thru the 27th, right after the Western Regional Championship. This affords folks an opportunity to get a few days of wine tasting and sight-seeing in between the two events.
